The DrainMaster can take a beating and does its job outdoors – whether on the balcony or in the garden. However, after a few weeks (or years ^^) under plant pots, not only water collects in the tray, but also lots of soil, limescale and other dirt. This is exactly what my first model looked like after prolonged use in wind and weather on the balcony. And yes, this is still one of the first versions with a black tray that we delivered back then.
Simply clean: off to the dishwasher
If you don’t fancy a long scrubbing session: No problem, the DrainMaster is dishwasher-safe! Dismantle the parts, put them in the dishwasher – and the dirt doesn’t stand a chance. To ensure that the item looks really good for a long time, we recommend using the low temperature cycle (e.g. 45 °C) and not overdoing the detergent. This is particularly gentle on the colors of models with labels.

A small side note: The very first label versions, as seen on my model, are unfortunately somewhat sensitive to frequent dishwasher cycles and aggressive cleaning agents. There were also label series that were more robust, but we can’t guarantee that. If you value the perfect look, you should keep this in mind – the function of course remains completely unaffected.
Clean & hygienic - and: Limescale stains are normal depending on water hardness
Especially with very calcareous water, as here in Berlin, a few limescale stains sometimes remain. However, this is purely visual and does not affect the function at all. If you like, you can polish with a splash of vinegar – but you don’t have to. Most importantly, after the rinse cycle, the DrainMaster is spotlessly clean and hygienic again, perfect for the next run.
